Maybe good news is the news of the promotion that you wanted, or maybe its the news that your loved one does not have something medically wrong. There are many stories of good news, but the Good News that I am talking about here is the Gospel of the Christian faith.

To start let’s talk about who Jesus is, and I will keep it simple. Jesus is the Son of God, true God, and true man. Not in multiple beings or states, but one person, and of the same essence of God the Father and God the Holy Spirt. He is the Messiah, or also known as the Christ that was spoken about in the Old Testament; he was sent to redeem us from our eternal condemnation due to our sinful nature against God.

The redemption takes place on the account of what Jesus did for you and I. Jesus went to the cross where he shed his innocent and holy blood, died, and three days later was resurrected, so that we may be claimed and saved for eternity as part of the holy creation. Through this redemptive act we are within Christ, so that we are now justified (not guilty) and deemed sanctified (made holy) before the Father.

So, the Good News is this….the Gospel. What Jesus has done on our account. Jesus being God and man died on the cross. On the cross he paid the price for our sins with his own blood and died. He died as our representative in our place. He took on our sins for our salvation, so that we become righteous.

Corinthinans 15:1-11 (ESV)

The Resurrection of Christ

15 Now I would remind you, brothers,[a] of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. 11 Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.
